ANALYSIS

The Indianapolis Colts hope for a bounce back season after missing the playoffs with an 8-8 record and should be in good shape if guys can stay healthy. Andrew Luck should get a series or two before you start to see Scott Tolzien and Stephen Morris takeover the game. Tolzien spent the last three seasons with the Packers and Morris enters his second year with the Colts after bouncing around the league a bit. It will be interesting to see how rookie center Ryan Kelly handles being the projected starter. Defensively, the Colts will be able to see cornerback Patrick Robinson for the first time after being a playmaker in New Orleans and San Diego. Also, rookie defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway and linebacker Trevor Bates have a chance to make an impression with the second unit.

The Packers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Colts are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on fieldturf and 25-10-1 ATS in their last 36 home games. The underdog is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

The “home” team has won the Hall of Fame game in six of the last eight meetings and preseason games to me come down to the quarterback depth. You’re not going to see the starters much, so how does the depth look? The Colts have some experience behind Luck, while the Packers are rolling out rookies and guys who haven’t played in NFL games before.

I’ll take the Colts and the free points here.
